In October 2012, the Government introduced legislation making it mandatory for all employers to provide a
workplace pension scheme for their employees who are eligible and
automatically enrol those employees into the scheme. The start dates for employers is based on the number of employees and will be on a staged basis. The first stage is for the largest employers in October 2012, with the remaining stages running through to February 2018.
